The Historical Society Project’s final goal will be to digitize the artifact library. In order to reach this goal, the Enactus/PBL group has a sub-goal set that we are currently trying to reach. The first goal is to create an inventory log for the family sheets and newspapers downstairs. The second goal is to hire an intern to input the inventory and keep the system updated. The third goal will be to begin an inventory for the various artifacts, documents, publications, and legal documents housed upstairs. The fourth goal is to market and brand the Historical Society to create a presence in the Lewis County Community. The fifth and final goal is to educate the volunteers at the Historical Society on how to keep everything updated.
So far, we have created an inventory for the downstairs and it is ready for input by an intern. We have begun a search for an intern who will be a Business or History student. We are hoping to implement at least one for the three week, fall semester 2014 and spring semester 2015. We have begun the creation of the inventory upstairs and are focusing on organization. It is extremely unorganized and the artifacts have not been taken care of. We have also begun the branding and marketing stage. Once we have finished both inventories, we will then train the volunteers to update everything when new information is gathered.
