Women's Empowerment Project
"The Women’s Economic Empowerment Project Partnership is an Enactus program sponsored by the Walmart Foundation that empowers women by providing entrepreneurial training and workforce development through Enactus teams. The need for women’s economic empowerment is evident around the world. While leading organizations and corporations have identified significant benefits that result from the ability of women to equally and fully participate in the economy, there is still much work to be done to advance women’s empowerment." Our team received a $1,500 grant to be used to provide adequate training and resources for local job-seeking women. We teamed up with the local organization, NECAC in order to try to reach a wider selection of local women. We designed a three night session in which the areas of professionalism, communication, résumé creation, job interview skills, and basic financial literacy would be discussed. For the women, gas cards, childcare, food, and professional clothing would be provided. While we are prepared in terms of speakers, curriculum, and resources, we have not received commitment from any women willing to attend our seminar. We have been diligently trying to complete our program and we plan on persevering until positive results are achieved.
